Art teacher

In 2012 I graduated in Fine Art at Academy Minerva. Immediately after I continued with a Bachelor in Education in  Visual Arts and Design. After graduating as a teacher in 2014, I landed an Art teacher job on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten. For four years I worked with a lot of fun at Milton Peters College and Sundial School.

Since 2019 I teach at Baken Park Lyceum in Almere and on thursday nights I teach my Art Journal Mixed Media course at de Gooise Academie in Laren. The great thing about my work as a teacher is that I get to let students experience, make and do. I love being practical and bring others into contact with their creative side. The creative process to me is the essence of being human. During a creative process you come across all kinds of feelings, but also beliefs such as: 'I can't draw'. Often students haven't even started drawing yet. It's always a nice challenge to show someone that drawing can be learned, but also that it doesn't always have to be beautiful what you make. It's a personal journey to become aware of what happens inside you while drawing or painting. Focus, joy, all kind of feelings, downloads, realizations can come by while making artwork. By doing, experimenting and trying you find out that you can often do much more than you think beforehand and you'll also learn that not everything has to be perfect. Making mistakes is allowed and even important to move forward in a process. A beautiful metaphor for life itself. Falling and getting back up, also in my art lessons. And sometimes a wrong 'stain' suddenly becomes the power of your drawing.

I have my own studio at home and here I work individually or in small groups with workshops in drawing, painting or creative systemic coaching.
