In 2011 heb ik deze serie schilderijen gemaakt tijdens mijn uitwisseling (exchange program) in New York City. Terugkijkend op deze periode maar vooral ook dit werk, weet ik nu dat ik daar echt worstelde met mijn inner child.
Deze serie gaat over mijzelf, de worsteling met wie ik ben, mijn verzet tegen volwassen worden. Een experiment met verschillende soorten verf, waaronder acryl, lak en olie.

As plastic surgery has become a commodity, we can all have our bodies enhanced for a price. Schrage shows us the ugly side of these transformations: scars and plastic, made very tangible by the thick layers of paint. She issues a challenge: can you discover the beauty in her paintings?
